Ollantaytambo

Ollantaytambo (aka The Sacred Valley) is a city on the way to Machu Picchu. Apparently many people only spend a few hours here, but I decided to spend a day and a half because it was such an amazing town.

Like I said in my previous post, instead of paying the ridiculous amount to hike to some ruins, I found a different mountain to hike but I didn´t realize how steep it would be…the entire way.

Half way up, I found a couple Inca Ruins

And at the very top I had an awesome view of the valley.. notice I had to bring all my stuff with me because I didn´t have a hostel yet which was probably  good thing, though, because I might have been blown off the cliff otherwise (the hair blatantly shows this).

Later that day I took to train to Aguas Calientes, even upon my arrival at 9:30 pm I could see the huge mountains hovering over this tiny town.

  1. It’s hard to imagine that anyone could have ever lived on the side of a mountain that was so steep…like you get out of bed in the morning and step out the door and roll down the mountain….

  2. We are so proud of you! What great pictures and what a great blog! Enjoy and travel safely!
