Machu Picchu and Llama Heaven

I´ll blame the difficulty of the last stretch of the hike to Machu Picchu on the altitude… :/ Rather then a 5.7 windy road, there were actually steps all the way up to Machu Picchu. Supposedly more then 3,000. I wouldn´t doubt it. But by the time I finally arrived, the lack of breath and burning legs were most definitely worth it.

When I left the hostel at 4:15 am I was already lost but luckily caught up with two guys from Dublin who showed me the way to the trail head. I was able to stay next to them until they started bolting up the stairs as if they were in the Olympics. I told them they were crazy and I would meet them at the top. Half way there and I couldn´t believe what I was looking at.

I got there, enjoyed the view for about an hour and as I looked down the mountain a ways, there I spotted the Llamas! I immediately got up and headed down to see them up close and personal.

I found the trail head to the Inka Bridge and walked down that path for about an hour. Wayyy easier than the Machu Picchu trail.

Although the bridge was a bit anticlimactic.

I hiked back down and finally made it to Aguas Calientes, barely able to lift my legs by the time I got back to the hostel.
